Well done and
congratulations to Ryan Pearson on winning the Doveton
Football Club senior Best and Fairest for season 2010,
Pearso had an awesome year playing on the ball and I'd hate
to think how many kicks and handballs he had for the year.
Ryan beat captain and fellow onballer Michael Henry for the
medal. Scotty Musgrove won the reserves Best and Fairest
from Kenny Smart and Alex Rakic won the Thirds from ?
( maybe someone can inform me who was runner up).
Congratulations to Steve Musgrove for being voted Best
Clubperson for 2010, Steve does an awesome job as head
trainer and as Vice President. Also a big "WELL DONE" to the
girls on there preparation of the rooms they looked great. I
hope to have the voting details soon and the netball winners
as well. Craig took heaps of pictures

Michael (Pickles) Henry League
Best & Fairest
Congratulations to
our Captain Michael (Pickles) Henry on winning the Casey
Cardinia League Best and Fairest.
Michael is an inspirational leader and thoroughly deserves
the accolades that come with such an award, his win follows
last years win by star ruckman Russell Gabriel, who is
having a great year in the VFL the with Frankston Dolphins.
Pickles and on-baller Ryan Pearson both made the league team
of the year. Congratulations also to young ruckman Vergim (Gigsie)
Faik on being named the Casey Cardinia League young gun for
2010, Gigsie had a sensational year for someone so young
playing against men.
Congratulations
and well done to Trevor (Toddy) O'Donnell on his magnificent
Lapathon on Sunday, Toddy jogged and walked an amazing 62 laps of
Robinson oval to raise money towards the new lights. Now to
some 62 laps might be a stroll in the park, but Toddy's not
a young bloke and has been known to have a sip or two, so
for him to achieve what he did was awesome, again well done
Tod. Also well done to Kelly Miller for all her help on the
day. Don't forget all who made a pledge or donation to get
the money in a.s.a.p. we wouldn't want Toddy to have done it
for nothing.
After the seniors kicked three goals
eleven points with the wind in the first quarter a lot of
the supporters thought they had blown a great chance to bury
Devon Meadows early, but to the boys credit they broke even
in the second quarter against the wind to go into the main
break seventeen points up. We added to our lead in the third
and the coach asked the boys to keep attacking in the last
and not go into a defensive mode. A few costly errors on the
backline by experienced players let the opposition get a
sniff of victory but the boys held on to win by ten points.
Captain Michael (Pickles Henry was by far the best player on
the ground ably backed up by Ryan Pearson and Michael
Rodriquez played a superb game as well. I think I said this
last time we played this mob, has Michael Henry got a bloody
target tattooed on his body or again is it that he’s the
soft option “ weak as ….”.
Anyway a sweet victory for the boys.
I’m not going to say much about the poor
performance of the two’s except, when they have the football
you “are” allowed to chase, harass and tackle them, you can
even stand next to them when the balls not near.
The thirds blew an opportunity to win
two in a row with some very undisciplined stuff, fifty metre
penalties are a killer especially close to goal, come on
boys you can do better.
Something that I missed when putting up
the upcoming milestones is that Michael Henry plays his one
hundredth game for the Doveton football club when we play
Beaconsfield after the bye next week, well done Pickles.
Also Peter Pullens last game was his one hundredth senior
game, Pete has had to stop playing due to work commitments
and “IF” Motty plays another senior game it will
be number one
hundred, two more club games and it will be one fifty games.
There are no Pictures
from the games, Craig went home crook, I have a lot of
netball pictures I haven't done yet I'll get them up asap
and also some more albums from Sally will go up shortly.
After a solid start
the wheels fell of just before half time when we let Roc in
to kick six quick goals to take the lead into the half time
break. Roc held there lead to the end of the game to win by
eight points in what was a very disappointing game for us.
Congratulations to Ryan Hendy on reaching his 200 games for
the club a great milestone in his football career and I'm
sure there will be many more outstanding games for the
Doveton Football Club. Also well done to young Harley
Primrose on an excellent first up game.
The Reserves for the
first three quarters were pretty dissapointing but then
turned it on in the last quarter kicking five of there six
goals for the game. It's the first time our two's have been
beaten by ROC from memory.
Rob's under eighteens
were soundly beaten by ROC and can hopefully look forward to
next week when they play bottom side Keysborough who they
comfortably beat in round one.
A last minute blitz by Berwick stopped
the Doves from stringing three wins a row together, but even
though we lost it was a terrific game of football, and I
must say well umpired. For three and a half quarters the
game seesawed and then
we just stopped with ten minutes to go and Berwick took full
control of the game kicking goals at will and going on to
win by 27 points. Spanna played a great game kicking six,
Pickles and Pearso again knocked up getting possessions and
it was good to see Adam Dean tacking strong pack marks and
kicking a couple of goals.
The two’s after there win last week came
back to earth with a thud losing by 41 points. Scotty
Dinsdale played a great game and has to be considered to go
straight back into the one’s. I know the boys are trying
hard but will have to improve on there tackling and manning
up to get back on the winners list.
The under eighteens were soundly beaten by Berwick and
surprisingly were a couple of players short and thanks to
Berwick for loaning us the players, also thanks to Matty
Miller for filling in for Rob who is away. Keep getting to
training boys and listen to your coach and things will
change. Next week we have a bye and then we play Hampton
Park away and then ROC at home.
UPCOMING FUNCTIONS There are some
really exciting functions coming up in the next
month or so, the first is this Sunday Toddy's
LAPATHON,
That's gunna be a huge weekend so get prepared. Keep
an eye on the rotating banner to the left for more
details or changes.
Breaking News Separated Siamese twins Yosh and Yack have been
rejoined again hopefully for the last time.
What is believed to be world first doctors rejoined
them at the Doves nest after to many complications
after the separation. Both twins are doing fine as
expected and could be stuck together for along time
to come.
