Round
6 Doveton v's Beaconsfield (away) Three Losses at Beacy The seniors blew away a promising first quarter against the wind to go down to Beacy by five goals in what was a very disappointing result. After staying with the opposition in the first quarter against a strong breeze the boys lost there way for the rest of the game and payed the price to record there second loss for the year. Aaron Henwood battled hard all day, Clint Wilson toiled manfully in the ruck, Jason McCloy showed great courage as usual and Scott Dinsdale took some strong marks in defence, but we have a lot of players who are struggling to put "four" quarters together and if we are to be a success we need everyone playing the game out. The two's were jumped at the start with Beacy kicking five against the wind, but to the boys credit they fought back hard for the next two quarters to get within a few points at the last change, but Beacy booted away with the wind in the last to win by thirty four points. After the first quarter lapse the boys showed some real fighting spirit and if not for some poor kicking could have got closer. Harley Primrose put his hand up for senior selection with a great game Trent Day and Taylor Rainey responded to being dropped from the seniors with top games and it was good to see Bazza Mac back with a couple of goals. The under 18's although beaten soundly showed improvement from there game against Beacy a couple of weeks ago, they even outscored the opposition four goals to nil in the last and that alone should give the boys confidence for the upcoming games. We Play Hampton Park after the Interleague bye, so lets all three teams put in on the track and bounce back and celebrate three wins and also Matty Millers 250th game. (game pics) |
